![]() Looks to me like the offending steel chip is getting pumped in with the lube. Makes me wonder if when people lube this stuff, they bother to wipe the zerk fitting. Brings me to a point of contention that I have seen time and time again - that the marks and scratches always line up with the grease grooves in these type of slides. Still got some wear and galling on saddle that need repair as well, turcite seems to take care of both. Gonna do some profile measurements on tailstock side of way, just in case the worst happens - as long as I don't loose the paper later on. ![]() Machine is fully optioned with both tailstocks, all collets with integral closer, 'infinitely' variable speed, taper turning, metric/imperial threading etc. I'm not taking delivery until September, but would like to get a head start.
